Our Team
At Kind Vet Sarasota, located in the heart of Sarasota, FL, we’re not just a team of veterinarians and support staff—we’re a family dedicated to providing exceptional care and compassion for your pets. Our practice stands out in Sarasota for its commitment to offering top-notch emergency vet care and urgent care services, ensuring that your pets receive the best treatment when they need it most.
Veterinary medicine has undergone a lot of changes in recent years, not the least of which is the continual shift toward corporate owned and operated clinics. Often these clinics rely on protocols written by people in offices hundreds or even thousands of miles away. They use decision trees to diagnose and treat your pet like a tech support agent and an outsourcing call center would diagnose and fix a problem with a computer.
But KindVet is not corporate. We are a privately owned and operated clinic that knows your pet is not a machine with a serial number that can be rebooted, reformatted, or replaced. That's why we trust our staff and doctors to make informed decisions based on your pet's unique needs, drawing on their experience and knowledge of the specific conditions and requirements of pets in this region of Florida.
We are not big shots in suits and ties sitting at a boardroom table. We are people like you who live in Sarasota and the surrounding area, and who keep our pets here. We know the challenges that come with the heat, the humidity, and the particular pathogens and diseases that we face in this area specifically.
If we recommend a test or a surgery or prescribe a medication, it’s because it’s what we would do for our own pets, not because it’s what someone in an office said we should do to get your money.
Dr. Jill Depto
Dr. Jill Depto graduated from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in 1997 with a degree in Chemical Engineering. She spent the next 7 years working as a Chemical Engineer before deciding to go back to school to pursue her true passion, veterinary medicine. In 2008 Dr. Depto received her DVM degree from the Tufts Cummings School of Veterinary Medicine. She then completed a one year internship in small animal emergency medicine, internal medicine, general practice, and surgery at the New England Animal Medical Center in West Bridgewater, MA. Dr. Depto moved to Florida in 2014 to escape the harsh Massachusetts winters. Since 2023, Dr. Depto has been serving as a relief doctor at several Sarasota-area animal hospitals and she is now very pleased to have accepted a part-time position at Kind Vet of Sarasota. Her areas of interest include: emergency and critical care, emergency surgery, and ultrasound. When she is not working, you can find Dr. Depto, also known as "Feral," on the track as a blocker for the Bradentucky Bombers roller derby team.
Amanda Corzatt, Practice Manager
Amanda has had a dynamic career in the veterinary, animal care, and animal welfare fields since completing an externship at C.R.O.W in early 2005, where she fell in love with the incredible flora and fauna and Florida. Since then, she has accumulated almost 20 years of professional experience in multiple veterinary and educational institutions, working with domestic animals, wildlife, farm animals, reptiles, amphibians, and fish. As a Life Support Technician and Aquarist at Fresno Chaffee Zoo in California, she even had the opportunity to train sharks and stingrays! After two cross-county moves while earning her Master’s Degree in Biology through Miami University and San Diego Zoo Global, she finally made her dream of Florida living a reality in 2021. Amanda loves spending time in nature photographing wildlife, swimming in the Gulf, kayaking and paddleboarding, and hanging out with her two dogs, three cats, and two geckos.
Dr. Lori Nichols, Medical Director
Dr. Nichols has a special interest and passion in feline medicine and has helped with several rescue groups in the Tampa Bay area. Before vet school, she worked in construction management and obtained an undergraduate degree in architectural engineering from the University of Southern Mississippi.
She cohabitates with a varying number of non-rent-paying feline roommates and enjoys taking care of them. She has fostered many kittens over the years, and her dog, Poppy, gets along well with her kitty friends. She enjoys spending time with her husband, and they can usually be found supporting the heavy metal music scene in Tampa Bay or just hanging out at home with the cats. They’ve lived in St. Petersburg since 2019 and love going to the beach as much as possible!
At Kind Vet Sarasota, we believe that every pet deserves to be treated with kindness, respect, and compassion. We’re proud of our team and excited to provide you and your pets with the best care possible, whether for routine visits or urgent situations.
